Position: Fab Shop Maintenance Technician
Reporting: Reports directly to the Fabrication Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain fab shop machines and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using measuring and testing instruments
• Remove and replace defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments according to manufacturers’ specifications
• Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance and monitor compliance
• Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job requirements
• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
• Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures, rules, and regulations
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by fabrication manager
Required Education & Experience:
• A minimum of one year in-trade industrial skilled maintenance experience
• Previous experience with electrical and hydraulic systems preferred
• Experience with welding (mig and arc), cutting, fabrication and equipment maintenance required
• Ability to deal with uncertainty and work under minimal supervision required
• Must have good communication skills and interact with coworkers and customers in a positive manner
• Must possess experience working with power tools
• Ability to multitask and manage time
• Ability to follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback required
• Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification required, including weekends and holidays
• Adhere to Barnsco safety rules to include wearing proper PPE
• Manage the maintenance of a clean, safe workplace and demand immediate reporting of all incidents to Safety Personnel and HR
• Demonstrate behaviors consistent with the Barnsco Core Values
