Position: Inventory Control Manager
Reporting: Reports directly to the Branch Operations Manager
Purpose: To provide leadership and guidance necessary to manage Barnsco’s inventory control department. The Inventory Control Manager will build and maintain a highly functional department with very competent inventory control personnel. This position is directly responsible for mentoring, coaching and staffing personnel in the inventory control department. As Inventory Control Manager this position will organize and schedule all inventory activities to enable Barnsco to provide the highest level of customer service and safety to both internal and external customers. This position will maintain and monitor the training of all employees to provide safe and cost effective control of the company’s inventory and will ensure all inventory personnel possess and maintain a high level of competence with emphasis on superior customer service. The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the safety of the Loaders and Material Handlers, as well as the maintenance of a clean, safe working environment. This position must be a strong problem solver with excellent organizational skills and possess the ability to prioritize daily activities and meet deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate leadership consistent with the Barnsco Core Values
• Provide guidance and mentoring to ensure the department provides the highest level of efficiency and customer support
• Manage the maintenance of a clean, safe workplace and demand immediate reporting of all incidents to safety personnel and HR (incidents to include injuries, damage to customer’s property, damage to Barnsco property)
• Manage the work of loaders and material handlers to ensure Inventory operations are efficiently accomplished with the highest level of safety and predictable excellence utilizing ASA and Bistrack operating systems
• Manage and maintain capacity and resources for the inventory control department to meet the needs of our customers, internal and external by utilizing lean operating and fiscally responsible labor management strategies
• Implement good inventory practices to better manage inventory accuracy
• Interface and cooperate with other departments to promote highest levels of customer satisfaction
• Collaborate with management to address and resolve all customer concerns or complaints
• Collaborate with management/staff to formulate and implement policies, procedure, goals and objectives
• Monitor operations to ensure that staff members fully comply with all policies, procedures, safety rules, environmental policies and government regulations
• Promote safety by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings and conducting regular safety briefings with staff
• Conduct investigations to determine causes of accidents and to improve safety procedures
• Assist in establishing annual departmental operating budgets
• Assist in managing the preventative maintenance program for all material handling equipment
• Manage the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of new inventory control personnel
• Provide high level accountability within the department and apply discipline with guidance of HR department
• Provide reports as requested by management
• Perform other duties as required by the Branch Operations Manager
Required Education and Experience:
• 3-5 years inventory control experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
• Strong communicator
• Ability to maintain accurate perpetual inventory
• Bilingual – English/Spanish (Preferred)
